Academics

We offer PreK-3, PreK-4/VPK, and K-8. All students receive rigorous instruction in the core academic areas of Reading / Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. Additionally, at Pinewood, Bible is included as a core academic subject in all grades.

All students also receive weekly instruction in enrichment classes including Art, Music,
PE, Technology, Library, and Spanish. For junior high students (grades 6-8), these resource
classes are offered as electives, allowing them to pursue their interests.

Students who complete both 7th and 8th grade at PCA receive high school
credit in Technology and Spanish. Eighth grade students who complete Algebra I Honors and
pass the Florida End of Course Exam receive a high school credit in Math.

PREK / VPK

PreK-3

Pinewood Christian Academy offers a 3-year-old program for 3 days (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) or 5 days (Monday-Friday). We use BJU Press's Pathways to Preschool curriculum which is both thematic and play-based. We cap the class at 15 students, and employ a full-time assistant.

PreK-4 / VPK

If you live in Florida and have a child who turns 4 years of age by September 1, he/she is
eligible for Florida's FREE
Voluntary PreKindergarten (VPK) program which gives children
a jump start by preparing them for school and enhancing their pre-reading, pre-math,
language, and social skills.

Pinewood offers a quality PreK program that includes high standards, developmentally appropriate instruction, manageable class sizes, qualified teachers, and full-time aides.
We use BJU Press's Footsteps for Fours curriculum, developed with rigorous academic
objectives and lots of creative fun!

We also offer a tuition-based PreK-4 for students who can benefit from an additional year
of learning and growing before entering kindergarten.

Our PreK-3 and PreK-4 / VPK programs run August to May, Monday-Friday, 8:10-12:00pm.

Tuition and fees

Application Fee (new students only)

Pinewood Christian Academy charges a NON-REFUNDABLE application fee of $100 due
at the time the application for enrollment is turned in. This fee covers the cost of entrance testing (if needed) and a SafeCare background check.

Enrollment Fee

All families are charged a NON-REFUNDABLE enrollment fee which covers a technology
fee, the cost of textbook rentals, consumable workbooks, insurance, achievement testing,
a yearbook, and general classroom supplies (students will be responsible for personal
supplies; a list is provided for each grade).

The enrollment fee is charged per student annually. When re-enrolling, families must pay
a portion of the fee upon submission of the Re-Enrollment Contract with the balance due
by June 1.
PCA cannot guarantee a student's spot for the following year without the payment
of the re-enrollment fee
. A $50 late fee per student is assessed if not paid by June 30.

Tuition

Pinewood Christian Academy works very hard to maintain a tuition that is accessible while
providing an excellent education program. We believe our students benefit from instruction,
facilities, and resources that rival our peers while paying a competitive tuition rate.

Tuition may be paid in full (with a $100 discount) or in 10 monthly installments (July-April). Families must arrange regular payments with PCA or use FACTS Tuition Management for automatic withdrawals (FACTS charges a nominal annual fee for their services).

There are no fees for Florida VPK eligible students. Families enrolling at PCA for VPK do not pay the application fee, enrollment fee, or tuition.
